Caitlin Dickenson Bennet
Heart of Worcestershire College's (HoW College) aspiring MUA and Level 3 Theatrical Media Make-up student, Caitlin Dickenson Bennet, hits the runway for the second year running at ICSM Fashion Show in London, after her make-up looks were originally spotted by organisers through her Instagram page.
Not one to 'blend in', Caitlin had her own makeup room to work in along with a helper. She was tasked with getting models ready backstage for their performances. Caitlin's time management skills were put to the test as she worked on 5-15 models with 30 minutes to get ready.
Reflecting on what the 'highlight' of her work experience was, Caitlin said:
"I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of getting the models ready for their performances, as well as being recognised by the models from the year before and building relationships in that industry.
"I was also given VIP tickets to see the show after, it was amazing to see my work and make-up looks in the show."
The Imperial College, which hosted the ICSM Fashion Show, have been running a fashion show every year for over a decade, whilst raising money for charity. After successfully working on the ICSM Fashion Show last year, Caitlin was invited back for this year's show.
When asked how her college course helped with this particular work experience, Caitlin stated:
"My learning at HoW College enabled me to use the correct hygiene techniques to avoid cross contamination and ensure all treatments ran smoothly.
"All of my assessments helped me to carry out what I needed to do in the correct timing, so everything ran correctly."
After completing her course at HoW College, Caitlin isn't 'winging it' and plans to carry on working hard in the industry, volunteering her time to building experiences and working relations, with the potential to find an apprenticeship.
Well done Caitlin! HoW College look forward to seeing what the rest of your journey holds and we wish you the best of luck with your course.
HoW College prides itself on its ability to offer students a number of opportunities to enhance their college based learning by including trips, work experience and guest speakers.
