Wallis’ Story:

Wallis secured an apprenticeship in a local hairdressing salon- Hogan’s Bespoke Hairdressing. Since starting her apprenticeship, Wallis has worked hard and has shown a natural ability and creativity in the hairdressing industry. She has been fully supported by her employer and this reflects in her professional behaviour, customer service and practical ability.

Talking about her apprenticeship, Wallis said:

“I wanted to become an apprentice because I wanted to learn whilst on the job. I think it’s a better practical experience and I get to witness what it would be like to work in a real busy working salon, solving daily jobs and tasks.

My job role is a Junior Stylist and my everyday jobs are helping the other stylists, working on reception and keeping the salon tidy. I feel really supported working whilst learning at the salon as the other members of staff help and teach me the important skills I need to know to become a hairdresser. The good thing about being an apprentice and in the salon is that I learn the most and best by watching other stylists go about their jobs. It makes learning more interesting as it’s more hands on compared to a classroom environment.”
