Ellie Wright
Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) Level 3 Health and Social Care student, Ellie Wright, has demonstrated incredible selflessness this festive season as she has put herself forward to work in a Nursing home on Christmas Day.
Ellie joined HoW College on a Level 1 course, and recently began the first year of her Level 3 Health and Social Care course. During her time with the College, Ellie began working in a Nursing home where she helps take care of many elderly residents. This year, Ellie has decided that she would like to work Christmas day in order to help give the residents a great day and provide some care and company to those who may not be experiencing a ‘normal’ Christmas season.
Speaking on Ellie and her decision, Student Activities Officer, Harry Friel, said:
“When Ellie she comes into the SUB and talks about her job, she speaks with such passion and pride and you can tell she genuinely loves what she does.
With the Christmas period coming up and the difficult year we have had, it is fair to say that many of us are looking forward to the break and seeing our families! Ellie is no different, however, she has put herself forward to work Christmas day. Ellie is a heart-warming individual and a perfect example of a student who embodies our values here at HoW College!”
Many residents in care homes may have limited visitation over the festive season due to the ongoing pandemic, which is why individuals such as Ellie are integral in supporting the community this Christmas.
Speaking on how she feels about working this holiday season, Ellie said:
“Some of these people will not be able to see their families on Christmas Day and if I can bring a smile to their face then it will all be worth it.”
HoW College would like to extend their thanks and admiration for Ellie for all she has achieved during her time at College, and for the difference she will be making to so many people this Christmas.
