Community Courses!

HoW College has a dedicated Community department working to engage people within Worcestershire. By building confidence or skills and social skills to re-enter education or the workplace. Supporting current education in other areas such as ESOL, English and Maths. To provide opportunities for individuals with physical health conditions to use subject specific skills to support recovery or prevent deterioration of their condition. The opportunity for individuals of retirement age to learn new skills to help prevent the development and reduce the likelihood or severity of conditions associated with ageing such as dementia or arthritis. To support those caring for family members by giving them a break from caring duties and a chance to socialise outside of the home. Building life-skills for individuals with learning disabilities or neurodivergence. The courses help to prevent social isolation. To support the positive outcomes identified by outside agencies / charities working with vulnerable individuals based on recommendations made.

Community engagement is achieved by providing courses in local areas throughout Bromsgrove, Redditch, Worcester and Malvern. To achieve this, we work with local community centres, assisted living venues, sport venues (WFA) ensuring location of provision is accessible for all.

Our courses include but are not restricted to, Arts and Crafts, Sewing, Cooking, Mindfulness, Reiki, Yoga, Flower Craft and Fitness. More traditional academic provision includes English, Maths, and ESOL – these courses are linked to curriculum provision in college and offers a real progression route into certified, accredited learning. All courses are delivered by experienced lecturers aiming to enhance learner’s skills, knowledge and wellbeing – increasing their capacity to be more independent, socially active and aspirational.
