National Star
Course Overview
Heart of Worcestershire College, in partnership with National Star, is now offering specialist education to support young adults with disabilities in building independence and life skills. Our personalised programmes are designed to meet each learner’s unique needs and aspirations. Depending on individual goals, programmes may include functional English and maths, life skills like cooking and community access, work-based learning, sensory exploration, social enterprise activities, and horticulture.
We offer four distinct pathways, each focused on achieving specific learner outcomes. All pathways emphasise progress in key areas of the Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), including:
Physical and sensory development
Self-care and independence
Social and emotional health
Communication and interaction
Cognition and learning
Our small class sizes ensure that each student receives the dedicated time and support they need to prepare for life after college.
Our newly designed learning spaces include:
A fully accessible kitchen for practising life skills
A sensory room for relaxation and engagement in calming activities
Access to an independent living flat where students can develop their independence in a home-like environment
In addition to highly skilled tutors, our team includes physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, behaviour support practitioners, and experienced facilitators.
