Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) student, Harriette Mobbs, has a bright future ahead as she has received a conditional acceptance on a BA (Hons) programme at the prestigious nursery nursing provider, Norland.

During her four years with HoW College, Harriette has completed Level 1 Step and Level 2 Children's Play, Learning and Development. Harriette then progressed onto the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, whilst also completing her GCSE English and Maths.

Speaking about what sparked her interest in childcare and her decision to join HoW College, Harriette said:

“I chose to study childcare at HoW College because it offered a diverse learning opportunity of both course work and practical work that can be an advantage to becoming an Au pair.

I researched other courses in the area, but they were all academic A-level courses and didn’t offer practical experience.”

All HoW College courses include work experience; with the Level 3 Childcare and Education qualification, students spend two days per week, plus block weeks throughout the year, on placement. Not only does this help UCAS applications stand out, it also gives students the skills needed for employment as well as great links with local employers.

Talking further about the support she received at HoW College, Harriette commented:

“The course and tutors have helped in supporting me with my confidence and my own self-esteem as I learn and grow to become an Early Years practitioner. This taught me that I can do anything I put my mind to.”

Following her studies with HoW College, Harriette hopes to further her education and has been given a conditional acceptance on the BA (Hons) Early Years Development and Learning with integrated Norland Diploma. Norland is and internationally renowned early years organisation and is a fantastic progression route for further education students to continue their childcare studies.

Talking about Harriette’s success, HoW College’s Curriculum, Resources & Quality Leader for Early Years and Health & Social Care, Yvonne Thomas, said:

“Hattie has gained so much confidence during her time at college. When she initially joined us, she was a very shy, quiet and nervous student; but has blossomed during her level 3 course, willingly contributing to class discussions and becoming a class rep.

Hattie is also helpful and supportive of her peers.  It has been fantastic to see her develop and although we will miss her, we wish her every success at Norland!”

We would like to wish Harriette the very best of luck within her future endeavours at Norland, and we would like to extend our congratulations for her many successes.
