Course overview

This course is ideal if you are new to welding or want to try a new skill. It is equally useful if you want to refresh old skills or transfer welding skills.

You will learn the basic operation of the MIG welder along with safe working practices. Through practical tuition you will learn how to produce a variety of simple welds in none complex positions as well as basic defect identification.

At the end of the course you will be able to set up welding equipment and produce acceptable welded joints in a safe controlled manner.

This course will give you the ability to dust off that welder you have in the garage and put it to good use!

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you do need a keen interest in fabrication/engineering or motor vehicle. You will also need to have a willingness to learn and practice skills.

How will I be assessed?

During this course you will need to complete five practical welded joint assessments, as well as a verbal knowledge assessment.
