Where Are They Now: Steff Hanson!

Embark on a journey with Steff, and you'll discover a realm of creativity awaiting those brave enough to take the leap. This is the story of Steff Hanson, a former student of North East Worcestershire College (NEW College), who transformed her passion for media into a career working on big name programmes such as Dragon’s Den, The Jonathon Ross Show, Sony and more! But how did she get here?

Between 2012 and 2014, Steff pursued a Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative and Television Media at NEW College in Bromsgrove. Seeking a community of like-minded individuals with a shared enthusiasm for the media industry.

During her time at college, Steff learnt about video editing, how to create different types of content, further detail about technology and how to work as a team on big projects. As well as this, the course taught her the fundamentals of video editing, which ultimately allowed her to secure a job in the industry.

So, where is Steff now?

After completing college, Steff went on to study Media and Communications at Birmingham City University and now thrives as a Junior Content Editor for Little Dot Studios in London. Her role includes editing video content for big names such as Sony, Studio Ramsay/ Gordon Ramsay, The Graham Norton Show, The Jonathon Ross Show, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Dragon’s Den and more. Steff has been able to apply the skills she learnt during college to her day-to-day role particularly emphasising her proficiency in video editing

Talking about her journey, Steff said:

“I am Autistic so education has been more difficult for me, but I worked really hard in school, college and university and now I have the base level of my dream job and I will only go up from there.”

Steff’s journey demonstrates that a dream job doesn’t have to be a dream. With the right support, skills and mindset you can put your passion into practice and excel in a job that you love.
