Warriors Winger Wows HoW College Students

Heart of Worcestershire College’s (HoW College) sport and public services students welcomed Worcester Warriors winger and South African superstar, Dean Hammond, last week to talk everything elite sport at its Redditch campus.

Dean joined the Warriors Academy from South Africa's Western Province in September 2013. Since then he has made over 70 appearances for the clubs first team.

During his visit, Dean focussed on the importance of having strong values and how resilience, discipline and enjoyment have played a key role to his success in sport.

Talking about his career, Dean said:

“Being consistent within your training, having a clear goal and overcoming setbacks is really important, not just in elite sport but for anything you want to achieve in life.”

Commenting on his visit, Public Services Lecturer, Joe Amos said:

“It was great to have Dean come in and speak to the students about his rugby career so far and the qualities that are vital to concur such a competitive industry.”

HoW College is proud to have strong links with the Worcester Warriors and have recently sponsored electrical installation student and back-row forward, Caleb Montgomery.

Talking about the signing, HoW College’s Principal and Chief Executive, Stuart Laverick said:

“We’re once again thrilled to be working with the Worcester Warriors to enhance the players’ education and help them prepare for life after rugby.”
