Strategic Development Fund - Success for Worcestershire

08 September 2022

Three Worcestershire further education colleges have been successful in their bid for funding from a Government-backed scheme.

Heart of Worcestershire College, WCG and Kidderminster College submitted a collaborative bid to the Strategic Development Fund.  The bid was supported by many local stakeholders including the Chamber of Commerce, Worcestershire LEP and Worcestershire County Council.

The three college partners secured over £1.6 million in funding, which will help support new capital developments in social care teaching spaces and digital infrastructure, as well as helping the development of a range of teaching and learning resources and careers information for the same social care sector.

The overall aim of the project is to build on the local collaborations that will create a stronger and more efficient overall delivery infrastructure and support a more coordinated offer across Worcestershire.

Stuart Laverick, Principal and Chief Executive of HoW College, said:

This is a very exciting opportunity for FE College colleagues in Worcestershire to work together to further enhance the teaching and learning services that support a wide range of technical and vocational career paths that are critical to the economic health of the county and the wider region.
