Celebrations are underway as Angell Pheonix, a recent social work graduate from Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College), has been presented with the silver 'Newly Qualified Worker of the Year' award at the Social Worker of the Year Awards.
The awards ceremony took place on November 3rd, celebrating the amazing contributions of social workers in their field.
The Social Worker of the Year Awards is an annual event that recognises and celebrates the accomplishments of social workers in their field. It's the only major national awards event for social work in England, attracting hundreds of entries each year and reaching millions of people with positive stories of outstanding social work.
Angell Pheonix was announced as a nominee for 'Social Worker of the Year' in September, this year. She then received the award of 'Newly qualified Worker of The Year' on 3rd November 2023.
When asked about this remarkable achievement, Angell commented:
I was beyond honoured to have been nominated for NWSW of the Year 2023, and went to the awards with no expectations. The nomination was enough for me, to have been recognised and celebrated. Heart of Worcestershire college supported me when another university did not, and I will be forever grateful for the support, education and nurturing from wonderful supportive teaching staff!
HoW College's CRQ manager for Social Work and Counselling added:
'At HOW College, we take pride in fostering a real sense of connection. In our BA (Hons) Social Work Degree Program, accredited by Birmingham City University, we keep our class sizes small to create an intimate and supportive learning environment
