Seeds of Confidence: Brad's Journey Into the World of Gardening
01 December 2025
Brad joined Heart of Worcestershire College studying our Skills for Work course, where he found his experiences to broaden his horizons and brought out newfound confidence.
During his time studying the Level one and two Skills for Work, Brad took his first step into the world of work with Avoncroft Museum. There he learnt skills of time management, working within a team and more. It was in his second year where he completed his work experience at Avoncroft again, where he found his calling, within the world of gardening.
That year, he thrived with each task assigned to him, taking to it with enthusiasm and building his confidence to support other students on their work placements and guide them in developing their own skills.
Building upon the success of his last two years, Brad joined our Supported Internships course, where he worked at Millcroft Care Home tending to their gardens yet again. Over his time he worked on his horticulture and customer service skills whilst also developing his CV writing, understanding Health and Safety in gardening amongst others.
These positive experiences at local businesses decided that for Brad, the world of Gardening would be his future career.
Brad has now gone onto secure paid work at Avoncroft Museum continuing in the place he found his true passion and has been growing his customer base for his independent work around Worcestershire.
To help support Brad in his future career, Annette Gardner from our Supported Internships team have been working closely with him and Inclusive Worcestershire so that he can start his own company in the future!
The teams who have worked with Brad are incredibly proud of all that he has achieved in his time with HoW College and look forward to see his future success.
