Heart of Worcestershire College’s (HoW College) art and design students swap the classroom for kilns as they visited Honeybourne Pottery for a “glossy” workshop.

The ‘Pot Throw and Decorate’ workshop, funded by The Arts Society, gave eight Level 3 Art and Design students the opportunity to try their hand at pottery for the first time.

With many of the students considering their career options, the workshop gave them the chance to explore a different side of the industry and try a trade that they could pursue after they complete their college course.

Talking about the experience, student, Emily Conway said:

“Learning more skills in art gives me more options as to what I would want to learn more of and possibly turn into a profession.”

Fellow student, Summer Lipscombe added:

“The more skills I collect, the more likely I am to become successful and be accepted for jobs and courses.”

HoW College prides itself on its ability to offer students a number of opportunities to enhance their college based learning by including trips, visits and work experience.
