Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) student, Emily Teague, has a passion for fashion after completing work experience at High Street retailer Marks and Spencer.

Emily, who is currently studying Level 3 Art and Design, completed a week’s work experience as a Visual Merchandiser at the retail giant in Worcester.

Speaking about her work experience Emily said:

“I really enjoyed styling the mannequins and working on the displays in the food hall area as the store was getting prepared for the Royal Wedding. The staff also made me feel included and listened to my ideas.”

Emily clearly made a good impression at the retailer as her styled mannequins were displayed in the shop’s front windows. She has also been invited back to interview for further work experience at Christmas time.

Talking about this offer of experience, HoW College’s Work Placement Officer- The Arts, Kate Hutchings said:

“We are thrilled that our local Marks & Spencer’s store offered Emily this wonderful opportunity to get hands on experience of visual merchandising. Adding Marks & Spencer as a work experience employer will look fabulous on her CV.”

Commenting further on why she decided to take this opportunity, Emily said:

“This work experience seemed like a different opportunity for me to look into. I want to get a career in the textile industry; this work experience allowed me to gain a better understanding by looking into the presenting and styling of clothes and displays in a store.”

After completing her course at college Emily hopes to go onto university to study textile design.
