Heart of Worcestershire College partners with West Mercia Police on student Prevent poster campaign

11 March 2026

Heart of Worcestershire College has joined forces with West Mercia Police to engage students in a creative campaign raising awareness of the Prevent programme through eye-catching posters displayed across its Redditch, Bromsgrove, and Worcester campuses.

Students were invited to submit poster designs focused on the theme of preventing radicalisation and encouraging people to speak up if they have concerns. The project aims to spark conversation, to promote understanding of Prevent, and empower young people to play an active role in keeping their communities safe.

After reviewing a number of impressive submissions, West Mercia Police selected three winning posters which will now be showcased across HoW College’s campuses. The initiative highlights the strength of the partnership between HoW College and West Mercia Police in supporting student wellbeing and community safety.

Inspector Richard Field, from Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team at West Mercia Police, said: “Working with fantastic partners like HoW College is a real privilege. Initiatives such as this Prevent poster campaign help spark open and honest conversations, deepen understanding, and ensure students know what to do if they have concerns or information about radicalisation. Our joint approach is all about keeping people safe, supporting one another, and empowering young people to speak up. I’m incredibly proud of the partnership work taking place here.”

Julia Breakwell, Vice Principal at HoW College, said: “This project has given our students a meaningful opportunity to engage with an important topic while using their creativity to make a real impact. Working in partnership with West Mercia Police helps us ensure our students feel confident to speak up if something doesn’t feel right. We’re incredibly proud of the powerful designs created by our students and the role they are playing in promoting awareness across our community.”
