28 April 2026

Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) is proud to announce the results of its latest Ofsted report, which recognises the college as achieving a strong standard or expected standard across all areas. The report highlights the continued commitment to delivering high quality education, outstanding support for learners, and meaningful partnerships with employers and the wider community.

The inspection in March found several areas where HoW College is performing at a strong standard, particularly in its contribution to meeting skills needs, its inclusivity, and participation and development for learners with high needs. Inspectors praised leaders for significantly strengthening partnerships with employers and stakeholders ensuring the college is recognised as an anchor institution across Worcestershire.

The report states ‘learners with high needs benefit from a highly ambitious development programme that boosts their resilience, confidence, and independence.’[staff]. Create a curriculum that is expertly designed to prepare learners for adulthood.’ It also recognised that HoW College meets the expected standard in areas including leadership and governance, education programmes for young people, adult learning programmes, and apprenticeships.

Learners were commended for developing confidence, as well as forming positive and professional relationships with peers and staff. Students on access higher education (HE) programmes were found to be well prepared for their next steps, with most progressing to university or apprenticeships. Additionally, a high percentage of apprentices were recognised for achieving distinction grades which reflects the high quality of the training at HoW College.

Michelle Dowse, CEO & Principal at HoW College, said: “We are delighted with this Ofsted report which reflects the dedication, passion, and hard work of our staff, students, and partners. Achieving strong and the high bar of expected standards across all areas is a fantastic milestone for the College. We are proud of the recognition of our inclusive culture and our commitment to supporting all of our learners to lead them to achieve their full potential.”

David Ash, Chair of Governors at HoW College, added: “This report shines a spotlight on the exceptional work taking place across HoW College every day. It recognises not only the quality of our provision but also the vital contribution the College makes to Worcestershire’s economy and community. We are immensely proud of the inclusive, ambitious, and supportive environment that has been created here.”
