Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW) and Scala, Worcester’s new arts centre, have announced a significant partnership aimed at promoting career opportunities and curriculum development in the Arts, Construction, Business and Catering & Hospitality. 

Currently under construction in Worcester’s city centre, Scala will be a place where people can come together to enjoy, imagine, and cultivate a more creative future for the city. Opening in 2026, Scala will offer live performance, independent film, music, talks, digital experiences, dance, workshops, exhibitions, festivals and special events. 

The collaboration between HoW College and Scala will focus on educating young people about essential roles and the current skills agenda across a wide range of sectors, helping to raise awareness of the new arts centre, and giving support with Scala’s staff training and development. 

Working together this three-year commitment will assist in raising awareness of career pathways within the relevant sectors. Both organisations recognise the importance of equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in these vital industries. 

Key Initiatives of the Partnership: 

• Curriculum development: This collaboration will offer essential insights into curriculum content by engaging with students and staff to provide insights into career pathways, services, and practical experiences 
• Training and professional development: Assisting Scala in identifying and addressing training and professional development needs 
• College events: Involving Scala in a range of HoW College events including open days, career fairs, award ceremonies and student inductions 
• Guest lectures and skills sessions: Scala will deliver a series of guest lectures to contribute to curriculum development and design 
• Student work placements: Each year, Scala will offer a number of placement opportunities for HoW College students
