Former Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) student, Natalie Smith, trades brushes for business as she becomes a Marketing Intern for Worcester-based law firm, Hallmark Hulme Solicitors.

After successfully completing her Level 3 Art and Design course with HoW College, Natalie has progressed onto Birmingham City University to study a degree in Digital Marketing.

Talking about her time at the College, Natalie said:

“During my time at college I studied a wide range of art techniques including textiles, photography and digital media. We were quite an independent course, we got a lot of time to work on our sketchbooks throughout the week. Moreover, as a group we all chose different disciplines so I learnt a lot from my peers. ”

After accessing the College’s in-house careers service, Natalie made the decision to change her field of study to marketing. Now in her second year of university, Natalie commented:

“I have always had a passion for photography and chose this as my discipline throughout my college course. However, when looking at careers I drew a lot of comparisons from what I had been studying and doing in my work experience to marketing. You learn so many transferable skills at college, therefore, making the transition from art to marketing felt natural to me.”

HoW College prides itself on providing a free, impartial and matrix accredited careers service across all its sites. This service is on hand to provide students with help and support with everything from CV writing to UCAS applications.
