Army shows HoW College Students the Ropes During Recent Visit!
23 April 2024
Earlier this week, members of the Army visited Heart of Worcestershire College's (HoW College's) Level 2 & 3 Public Services students at Perdiswell Leisure Centre in Worcester. This visit provided the perfect opportunity for students to interact with army personnel, gaining valuable insights into the world of uniformed services.
During the event, the visitors shared their experiences and challenges related to entering uniformed services with the students. The interactive session provided a space for students to learn from the real-life experiences of the Army Cadets, helping their understanding of the demands and rewards of a career in the uniformed services.
One of the highlights of the day was a challenge presented to the students by the Army. Equipped with tools and parts, the students were tasked with creating a product designed for army use. The innovative exercise not only tested the students' creativity and problem-solving skills but also provided them with a hands-on experience of designing solutions and thinking on their feet.
As part of the challenge, students pitched their ideas in a Dragons' Den-style presentation, showcasing their concepts and receiving feedback from experienced cadets. This practical session encouraged students to think quickly, communicate effectively, and work well with their peers.
One of the Level 3 students commented, 'It was a really great experience and it was something that I can definitely add to my course work'.
The visit proved to be a valuable learning experience for the students, offering them a glimpse into army life and an opportunity to speak with industry professionals.
