Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment, Level 3
Course overview
This Level 3 Award is appropriate for individuals who are interested in taking on the role of an assessor as well as for staff already in this role.
There are three qualifications within the suite. There is a knowledge based award on the principles and practices of assessment, suitable for those who may not be directly involved in assessing or those new to assessment. The second focuses on the assessment of competence whilst the third focuses on the assessment of vocationally related achievement. The certificate combines both these aspects of assessment.
The aims of the qualification are to enable learners:
-To develop knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice that underpin assessment
-To develop skills in assessing occupational competence in an individual’s work environment
-To develop skills in assessing vocational knowledge, understanding and skills in environments other than the work environment
-To award the candidate a professional qualification for the knowledge, understanding and skills developed
The staff delivering on the teacher education programmes have come from a range of different vocations providing learners with a wealth of experience of teaching and assessing academic, business and vocational subjects. All staff on the programme have a recognised teaching qualification in addition to qualifications in their subject specialism.
