National Extended Diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences, Level 3
A diverse range of careers in sport and recreation are available to you. A genuine interest in sport is absolutely essential for you to get into this highly-competitive industry, but you don’t need to be an international sporting superstar.
You will study a variety of sports and fitness based modules designed to give you the best chance of progressing to a career that is dynamic, exciting and full of opportunities. Practical parts of the course will be taken in our on-site sports and fitness centre, which is equipped with industry standard equipment.
There is a real focus on providing you with exceptional opportunities to get work placements with local employers. Many of our students go into well paid jobs locally and a significant number continue their education at university/ Higher Education degree level.
Please note that for all sports courses it is a mandatory requirement to wear uniform.
Please note that this course is predominantly aimed at 16 to 19 year olds.
5 GCSE’s at Grade 4(C) and above or Level 2 Sport qualification. English and maths GCSE Grade 4 and above must be included.

How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment through
1. Practical assessment of skills and teaching or instructing
2. Group and individual presentations of sports specific work
3. Written reports and evaluations
4. External assessment
What can I do next
You can progress onto a broad range of academic and vocational higher education courses at a Foundation Degree, HND or BA (Hons) level. This includes our HND in Sport and Exercise Science: Coaching Science.
You will also be open to a range of careers including (but not limited to):

- Sports Psychologist
