Extended Certificate in Public Services, Level 2
Course overview
This course will help prepare you for a career in the uniformed or non-uniformed public services sector. Learn about teamwork, leadership, commitment, self-discipline, dedication and reliability.
From this course you will have a diverse range of careers in the Public Sector available to you. A genuine interest in public services is absolutely essential for you to get into this highly-competitive industry, but you don’t need to be currently working as you will gain the skills and experience to prepare you for it.
You will study a variety of public services based modules designed to give you the best chance of progressing to a career that is dynamic, exciting and full of opportunities.
You will be at the college main campuses and Public Services HQ 4-5 days a week..
Practical parts of the course are based at Perdiswell Sports centre in Worcester and our Redditch campus Sports centre.
There is a real focus on providing you with exceptional opportunities to get work placements with local employers in the Public Sector
Many of our students go into well paid jobs locally and a significant number continue their education at university/ Higher Education degree level.
Please note that this course is predominantly aimed at 16 to 19 year olds.
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D) including English and maths.
Entry will be subject to a satisfactory reference and interview.

How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment throughout in the form of: practical assessment of knowledge and skills for leading and instructing, group and individual presentations of public services specific work, written reports and evaluations and external assessments.
What can I do next
You have the possibility of progressing onto our Extended Diploma in Public Services, Level 3.
You will also be open to careers such as (but not limited to):
- Police Officer
- Dog Handler
- Detective
- Family Liaison Officer
- Armed Forces/Services (Army, RAF, Navy etc)
- Military Police Officer
