UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology
Course Overview
"Do you have an interest in wide-range of film-making, photography, and audio-visual creative processes. Could you see yourself becoming a film-maker, photographer, podcast host or documentary maker. Would you like to further develop your existing skills and explore and experiment with a range of media production principles? Then our UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology, Level 2, is the perfect opportunity for you to put your passion for this into practice.
Within this one-year course you will be experimenting with a wide-range of production processes. This is not completely focused on the TV & Film Industry, however the course has strong foundations of this. In additional to documentary making, camera assessments, and studio work you will be exploring podcast productions, content creation, audience research, and photographic processes. Alongside this, you will keep and maintain a Digitial Portfolio, reflecting on your experiments and tests. This will all culminate in a final presentation of your work.
Using our specialist TV studios, Podcast suites and editing facilities in Bromsgrove, you’ll spend your time studying a range of disciplines including; sound production, camera techniques, editing and media principles.
Please note that this course is predominantly aimed at 16 to 19 year old's. However, we do accept people over the age of 19.
At the beginning of each course there is a studio fee to be paid, which is disucssed at application and interview. This covers standard kit that students need on a day-to-day basis and also one trip that is linked to curriculum.
Students will also have access to industry relevant studio filming and editing equipment, in addition to Audio, Digital, and Recording suites.
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs (A*-D) or (Grade 3 and above) to include English and Maths.

Unit 7 - Exploring interactive media production and technology
Unit 8 - Personal project and presentation in creative media production
How will I be assessed?
After each assignment submission you will be given both written and verbal feedback to support your ongoing academic and creative development. Throughout the course different assessment methods are utilised. Continual feedback on the development of our work happens in lesson, as does Peer Reviews and presentations to the staff about your work and the progress of this.
Within the course you will also undertake 30 hours of work experience across the year, however we have excellent employer links to facilitate this. The projects will be provided for each student to complete and will relate to skills needed within the industry and for employment.
What can I do next
Students can aim to progress onto Level 3 Creative Media Production and Technology, as well as Level 3 Art and Design. However students may wish to explore employment options, and long-term some of those are: TV and Film production, editing and film production (both contract and freelance), film production management, digital media, scriptwriting and events management.
