Hair and Beauty

Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing

Course Overview

The Level 1 Hairdressing course introduces learners to the basic skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in the hair industry. Students develop essential practical techniques such as shampooing, styling, blow drying, and basic colour knowledge, while also learning about salon health and safety and professional behaviour. The course builds confidence, communication skills, and an understanding of how a real salon operates, providing a strong foundation for progression to Level 2 Hairdressing.

All essential Hair equipment and products needed for lessons and assessments will be provided within the training salon. However, learners are required to purchase their own uniform and personal hair kit to support their practical development. The uniform ensures a professional appearance and meets industry standards, while the individual kit allows learners to practise skills independently and maintain good hygiene throughout the course. Full details of the required items, costs, and suppliers will be provided during interviews / induction evenings.
