Course Overview
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is an industry‑recognised qualification designed to develop the essential practical skills, professional knowledge, and client‑focused behaviours needed to begin a successful career in modern barbering. It provides a strong foundation in classic and contemporary techniques while building confidence in delivering high‑quality grooming services in a real working environment.
Kits will be supplied by the college and kept on campus for use during all practical sessions. If you prefer to have your own personal kit to take home and practise with, optional kit packages will be available for you to purchase.
Entry requirements
4 GCSE grade 3 and above (including Maths & English) and a successful interview.
Course Modules
Cut hair using barbering techniques
Client consultation for hair services
Follow health and safety practice in the salon
Cut facial hair
(there is also an opportunity to complete a facial massage unit alongside)
How will I be assessed?
Assessment for the Level 2 certificate in Barbering is carried out through a combination of practical observations, written assessments, and externally marked exams. Learners are observed performing a range of practical treatments.

At the end of the qualification, you can further develop your knowledge and skills by undertaking a level 2 qualification in hairdressing You will also be open to a range of careers including (but not limited to):
