GCSE in English Language, Level 2
Course Overview
GCSE English course develops learners’ skills in reading, writing, and spoken communication through the study of a wide range of texts and purposeful writing tasks. Learners engage with fiction, non fiction, and literary non fiction, analysing how writers use language and structure, and producing their own descriptive, narrative, and viewpoint writing. They sit two exam papers assessing unseen fiction and non fiction texts, each testing reading comprehension, analysis, and extended writing, alongside a separate spoken language endorsement that evaluates presentation and communication skills. Through the course, students build critical thinking, technical accuracy, and confidence in expressing ideas clearly and effectively—skills essential for further study and employment.
