Mathematics Functional Skills for Adults, from Entry 1 to Level 2
Course Overview
Functional Skills Maths enables learners to build practical mathematical skills for everyday life, work, and further study, progressing from simple to complex problem solving. At Entry Levels 1–3, learners develop confidence with basic number, measures, shape, space, and simple information handling, applying maths to real life situations through “simple” problem solving tasks. As they move to Level 1, they learn to use maths more independently, tackling “straightforward” problems involving number operations, measures, shapes, and interpreting data. By Level 2, learners solve “complex” mathematical problems, selecting and applying appropriate methods, interpreting results, and communicating solutions clearly in a range of real world contexts. Across all levels, the qualification focuses on building fluency, logical thinking, and the ability to apply mathematical knowledge confidently and accurately.
