Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery, Level 1

Course overview

Are you considering a career as a carpenter or joiner, if so this course can introduce you to Carpentry and joinery, where you will learn how to carry out a number of tasks with different joints and procedures using hand tools to build up your confidence and skills, then progressing to using a variety of power tools.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a Grade 2 in GCSE English and Mathematics. You will need to have an interest in carpentry and be prepared to undertake an entry assessment during your interview.

Entry decisions will be discretionary at interview. Students will continually be assessed through probation period to ensure they are on the correct level.

How will I be assessed?

You will complete practical tests and online multiple choice tests for each unit you complete, there are five units in total.

What can I do next

Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress onto either a Diploma in Site Carpentry, Level 2, or a Diploma in Bench Joinery, Level 2.
