Course Overview

This Level 1 Diploma is an introductory qualification designed for those new to plumbing. It develops basic plumbing knowledge and practical skills, preparing learners for further training, employment support roles, or progression into a Level 2 plumbing programme. The course balances practical workshop training with classroom learning in construction principles, pipework, drainage, and plumbing systems.

For this course you will need steel toe capped safety footwear, a tape measure (e.g., 5 m builder’s tape), a notebook / notepad for theory and diary notes, pens, pencils, ruler and a folder / binder for organising portfolios and paperwork.

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE grade 2 in both English language and mathematics.

You will be assessed through:

Practical Workshop Assessments

Learners demonstrate hands-on plumbing tasks under the observation of an assessor in a workshop setting.

Written Assignments / Theory Checks

Written tasks or short tests cover technical knowledge such as plumbing processes, materials, and safe practices.
