Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles, Level 3

Course Overview

The Level 3 Diploma is designed to develop advanced technical knowledge and diagnostic skills for learners progressing from Level 2 automotive qualifications. It provides a standardised approach to advanced service, repair, and diagnostic procedures and forms the knowledge component of the IMI Maintenance and Repair Advanced Apprenticeship (Light Vehicle).

Students will need "Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as overalls, safety boots, and gloves and classroom basics (pens, paper, folder).

Entry requirements

Successful completion of Level 2 in Automotive Maintenance GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 or above and a successful interview.

What can I do next

Completing the Level 3 course opens several strong employment and education pathways. Employment options include vehicle technician, MOT tester, Service / Diagnostic Technician. Further study can include Level 4 Automotive Engineering, MOT Tester qualification and foundation degrees and higher education.
