Course overview

A career in accounting can be a smart and rewarding decision. Accounting is a field that will always be in demand and will allow motivated and determined employers to progress in their respective companies.

An AAT accounting qualification will start you on the path to a successful accounting and finance career. Our training will give you the practical skills and financial expertise to follow a rewarding career in professional accountancy. It is a practical vocational qualification, leading to great career prospects.

At this level you will start to develop your skills in double-entry book keeping and gain a grasp of management and administrative processes. You will learn basic costing principles, how to use manual and computerised accounting systems and how to work with purchase, sales and general ledgers.

Our current pass rates for this course are above the national average for AAT

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement is Grade C in GCSE in maths and English.

Bookkeeping Controls
Elements of Costing
Computerised Accounting (Sage)
Synoptic Module - covering all of the above and also including Working Effectively in Finance

What can I do next

On successful completion of this course, there are many career paths which you could take including Accounts Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable Clerk, Bookkeeper, Payroll Administrator, Payroll Officer, Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk, Tax Assistant/Trainee, and Trainee Accounts Technician.
Or, if you choose, you can progress to the AAT Diploma for Accounting Technicians, Level 3.
