Course overview
Do you enjoy working on a wide variety of motor vehicles? Have you recently completed your Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance? Maybe you have prior experience in the industry and are looking for a qualification? Whether you have experience in light vehicle repair or simply love cars, our Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, Level 2, offers the essential skills you need to take your training to the next level.
Our course balances theory with some great hands-on experience. By working on real vehicles in our workshop, you will build your knowledge of key vehicle systems and begin to develop simple diagnosis and maintenance skills. You will learn how to remove and repair engines, electrical auxiliary units, vehicle chassis units and a range of other components. You will also gain a working knowledge of health and safety procedures, and develop important communication and functional skills that will help you when ordering systems, job sheets and technical resources.
Please note that this course is predominantly aimed at 16 to 19 year olds.
Entry requirements
You must have a Level 1 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or related subject. Entry will be subject to a satisfactory reference and interview. You must also have obtained 3s in English and Maths, alongside two other GCSE's.
Entry decisions will be discretionary at interview. Students will continually be assessed through probation period to ensure they are on the correct level.

How will I be assessed?
Over the year, you will complete up to eighteen practical activities in our workshop and these will be marked by your tutor. You will also complete written and online tests to show that you understand the theory behind the course.

Your Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, Level 2 qualifies you to work as a Service Technician. If you want to take your skills to the next level, you may want to consider studying the Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, Level 3.
