Course overview
Are you passionate about cars and engines? Do you like working with your hands and making things? Are you considering a career in the automotive industry? Whether you are thinking of working in a repair garage or dream of running your own workshop, our Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 1 will introduce you to the automotive industry and provide you with the skills and training you need to develop a great career in the field.
Our hands-on course introduces you to the world of vehicle service and repair. You will learn a range of different procedures for working on cars, vans and light vehicles in our specialist workshop, which offers all the tools and equipment you would find in a professional dealership. In addition to actually working on cars, you will learn the theory you need to support your skills. You will learn all about the workings of engines, gearboxes, suspension, brakes and electrical systems.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 to include English and Mathematics. You will need to have an interest in the automotive industry You will learn something new every day, so good attendance is a must. Entry will be subject to a satisfactory reference and interview.
Entry decisions will be discretionary at interview. Students will continually be assessed through probation period to ensure they are on the correct level.

How will I be assessed?
Over the year, you will complete up to twenty practical activities in our workshop and these will be marked by your tutor. You will also complete written and online tests to show that you understand the theory behind the course.
