Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) Hospitality and Catering Level 2 Student Patrick Banard, has recently been given a job as Commis Chef at The Why Not Inn after completing work placement as part of his ongoing course.

Partrick recently completed his work placement at The Why Not Inn and due to this has been successful in landing a job. During Patrick’s work experience, he was able to gain real life experience within the industry and a further understanding of the skills that are needed to become a better chef and succeed in the industry. Patrick can now apply the skills learnt in placement to his role as Commis Chef.

When asked about his work placement and the impact it has had, Patrick said:

“I enjoyed my work experience as it allowed me to learn from other chefs and understand how to deal with situations that I struggled in. During my placement I learnt how to priorities tasks, improve my speed and be efficient during service. I am excited about my new role and to work in a place that I have become accustomed to. I am really looking forward to finding out what else I can learn from the establishment.”

Speaking about his future plans, Patrick added:

“My future plans are to do an apprenticeship with my work placement so I can further develop my skills to become a better chef.”

Work placement is a fantastic opportunity for the HoW College students as it really allows them to learn new skills, experience their industry in real life and can lead to potential work opportunities.
