Life & Independent Living Skills, Pre-entry to Entry 2

Course overview

This course is designed for learners with special educational needs who wish to learn core life and independent living skills, in order to develop their personal,
social and educational wellbeing. This course will put you on track to being confident with making your own decisions and living more independently.

During this course leaners will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of trips, a world of work experiences and engaging guest speakers throughout the year.

Entry requirements

Pre-entry or entry level learners with special educational needs and a Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Throughout this course you'll develop a number of key life and independent living skills. Areas covered will include:

- Independent Living Skills

- English and Maths
- Tutorials
- Personal and Social Development
- Accessing the Community

How will I be assessed?

You will work with your tutor to assess your needs set your own personal targets. You will complete a folder of your work in each subject area, gathering evidence from a variety of innovative assessments methods including computer work, photographic evidence and video.

Your tutor will mark your work and meet with you to give you feedback.

What can I do next

Towards the end of each academic year, you will be able to discuss progression opportunities with your tutor.

You may go on to a higher level course at the end of your studies if you have shown sufficient progression. You may also wish to move onto independent living, supported employment or voluntary work
