Award in Awareness of Dementia, Level 2

Course overview

This qualification aims to develop the knowledge and skills required when providing positive care for people with dementia and their families. The Level 2 Award provides an awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia. This qualification is aligned to the National Dementia Strategy.

Entry requirements

No qualifications or experience necessary, however, learners must be 16 or over.

Course Modules

Course content includes:
> Dementia awareness.
> The person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia.
> Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals with dementia.
> Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care.

How will I be assessed?

Learners will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence.

What can I do next

Learners will develop an understanding and awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia, allowing for progression to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. It may also allow learners to progress into employment in social care settings.
