Course overview

The course is aimed at people who have little knowledge or experience of using computers and mobile devices.

Over the duration of the course you will gain confidence in understanding and utilising the Internet, using social media platforms, utilise online banking, sending letters or emails. You will also learn about the advances in online storage systems, enabling you to connect your mobile devices together.

Please remember to bring the mobile devices you want to understand in more depth with you.

The full cost of this course is £60.

This course will be offered at our Redditch and Worcester campus during the following dates:

Spring Term
Worcester - Tuesdays 21/01/2020 until 03/03/2020
Redditch - Thursdays 23/01/2020 until 05/03/2020

There are no formal qualifications for this course.

Course Modules

During the six week course you will cover the following:

Week 1 – Online Footprint
The trail of data you leave each time you are online. You will also learn what is you online Profile, the importance of passwords, navigating social media and staying safe online.

Week 2 – Mobile Devices
Looking at and understanding the different types of phones, tablets and cameras now on the market.

Week 3 – Word Processing
How to create, edit and print documents, i.e. letters and emails, using Microsoft Word.

Week 4 – Presentations
How to create presentations using Microsoft Power Point. How to add features such as animations and transitions.

Week 5 – Spreadsheets
Explore Excel. Understand general online banking and how to use together to keep track of your finances.

Week 6 – Online Storage
Understanding of the Cloud, online storage, what is available and how to use.

You will have the opportunity to further your knowledge with our IT courses. Advice on how to progress if you wish will also be given, during the course.
