Drawing and Painting

Course overview

This course will enable you to explore a different area of Drawing and Painting each week and will help you develop your skills through fun and experimentation.

A practising artist and former University Art and Design Course Leader will teach this course.

This course will be art studio based and delivered through a series of examples and demonstrations before you try the techniques yourself.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.

Course Modules

The techniques you shall look at will include: line drawing, tonal drawing, relief drawing, 3D drawing, drawing with unusual materials (string, wire, food etc.), oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolour painting, mixed media and montage.
Students will be encouraged to visit local exhibitions and artists talks.

Equipment Needed:
General Art materials, such as a sketchbook, pencils, a straight edge, glue, craft knife, a few brushes and a few tubes of paint.

What can I do next

This course is designed to be ongoing to allow students to continue practicing their art. Those wanting to specialise in a particular area e.g. portraiture, could join a specific class for that. Those wishing take a more academic approach could investigate professional art courses.
