Are you passionate about make-up and looking for a qualification to take you to a professional level? If the answer is yes, then this is the course for you.
The VTCT Level 3 Extended Diploma in Theatrical and Media Make-up is a tech level qualification aimed at learners who wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed make-up artist, providing hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries.
The theatrical and media make-up course includes all the required elements to work effectively as a make-up artist in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries. Units that will be covered are: Health and safety in the salon, Cosmetic make-up science, Media make-up, Style and fit postiche, Photographic make-up, Anatomy and physiology for make-up services, Airbrush make-up, Cosmetic camouflage, False eyelash application, Style hair using a variety of techniques, Create and caste small prosthetic pieces and bald caps.
In parallel you will develop your communication and customer service skills, awareness of environmental sustainability and commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving and research skills will also be developed.
All activities will prepare you for the world of work. You will also complete theory related tasks to assess your under pinning knowledge, together with work experience opportunities, trips and visits to enrich and inspire you for your chosen career path.

You will need four GCSEs at grade D or above, these must include Maths, English and level 2 qualifications or equivalent in hairdressing together with a successful interview.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways including:
Externally set and externally marked examinations, which will be theory and practically based (Pass, Merit, Distinction). Overarching examinations that assess knowledge and understanding from the breadth of mandatory units at the end of the period of learning. Practical assessment. Graded synoptic assessment (Pass, Merit, Distinction)
