Course overview

Are you a natural problem solver who likes fixing things? Do you have a mechanical mind? Are you curious about how things work?

If you enjoy engineering and want to further your knowledge and understanding of the theory behind principles used in the industry, or want to progress to gain a higher level qualification such as a HNC, HND or degree, this course will develop your skills in a range of specialist areas such as mechanical principles and applications, business principles, technical information and programmable logic controllers.

Entry requirements

GCSE/GCE at grades A, B or C which should include mathematics, and preferably physics or science, English language and engineering drawing.

BTEC First Certificate award/level 2 extended certificate

Consideration will also be given for previous attainment, maturity and experience.

How will I be assessed?

All assessment is by assignments completed throughout the year.

What can I do next

Completion of this qualification will open many progression routes, including courses such as: HNC in Mechanical Engineering,
HNC in Manufacturing, 
FD in Manufacturing, 
FD in Mechanical Engineering.
You could also consider employment or an apprenticeship.
