Course overview

The Level 2 in Site Carpentry is aimed at learners that are looking to start a career in the construction industry as a site carpenter.  Learners could progress into employment as a site carpenter or onto an apprenticeship, or further their studies by taking other qualifications at Level 3.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade 4 or grade C in maths and English.

Course Modules

Compulsory topics for the Level 2 in Site Carpentry include:

• The principles of construction
• Structural carpentry
• Non-structural carpentry prior to plastering
• Non-structural carpentry following plastering
• Timber technology and the use of circular saw

How will I be assessed?

A number of assessment methods are used including direct observation, multiple choice tests and discussions.

What can I do next

The Level 2 in Site Carpentry could lead to a job as a site carpenter, working for a house building company, a property development company, or as part of a small business repairing and refurbishing buildings. It could also lead to an apprenticeship in site carpentry or progression to Level 3.
