Course overview

Our Diploma in Bricklaying, Level 2, develops the skills you need to become a fully qualified Bricklayer. Learn how to interpret drawings and build solid walling, cavity walling, thin masonry and cladding.

Our course balances theory with some great hands-on experience. In our specially designed workshops you will learn how to build solid walling, cavity walling, thin joint masonry, cladding, and isolated and attached piers. You will look a variety of other building methods and construction techniques in much more detail than at Level 1.

You will also learn and apply safe working practices, and begin to interpret working drawings for masonry structures. The Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying is an ideal progression from Level 1 Construction Diploma Brickwork. The Level 2 qualification builds on the knowledge and key skills that you have already developed in the Level 1. It offers you a deeper insight into the craft of bricklaying and will give you all the skills you need to become fully qualified and ready to enter the world of paid employment.

Please note that the full time option for this course is predominantly aimed at 16 to 19 year olds. However, if you’re an adult, why not consider our part-time option.

Entry requirements

To apply for this course you will need a Level 1 qualification in a related and be genuinely interested in the construction industry.

Entry will be subject to a satisfactory reference and interview.

Entry decisions will be discretionary at interview. Students will continually be assessed through probation period to ensure they are on the correct level.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed on an ongoing basis through online tests, multiple choice questions, workbook completion and practical tasks.

What can I do next

Your Level 2 Construction Diploma Bricklaying will fully qualify you for work, however you may wish to progress onto a Level 3 to become highly qualified, or apply to become an apprentice.
