Course overview

This free course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn how to develop (code) apps.

During this six-week course, you will learn how to design and develop programs using the Microsoft Visual Studio software and the .NET suite (focussing on C#).

You will learn how important skills such as software testing and error handling and we all troubleshooting and fixing broken code.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. This short course is aimed at adults (over the age of 19) with no previous experience of web design or development.

Course Modules

The Online World – learn how the internet has made us more connected than ever before.

Digital portfolio – put together a portfolio of your digital skills that can be used to showcase your skills and experience to prospective employers in the growing web development industry.

Software Development – using C# to build your own programs.

How will I be assessed?

The course will be assessed using a mix of online tests and coursework (comprising the compilation of a portfolio of evidence).

Computing and IT covers a very wide range of jobs and career opportunities. Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress onto a number of courses, including our Basics of Software and Web Development course or one of our full time IT courses to develop your skills even further.
