Microsoft Office Applications: Intermediate Users, Level 2

Course overview

ITQ is the leading IT qualification offered by City & Guilds and is suitable for anybody who uses IT whether at home or at work. The flexible structure and assessment methods of the City & Guilds ITQ means that it is it suitable for those with intermediate, advanced or professional skills.

This City and Guilds IT qualification helps build skills and confidence in a range of IT areas including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Desktop Publishing, Presentations as well problem solving for workplace and at home.

As well as building IT skills, if you are currently looking for work, the City & Guilds ITQ can also help you to become more employable by gaining a working knowledge of the latest Microsoft Office 365 programs such as: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook.

This level 2 qualification is suitable for those looking to enhance their existing IT skills and knowledge and provides learners with the basic skills and knowledge that could lead to further education in IT or related areas, as well as underpinning other educational sectors to higher levels of competency for those required to work independently or supervise others.

This level 2 qualification will allow learners to make use of predefined or commonly used IT tools for activities that are at times non-routine or unfamiliar, they will be able to devise solutions to use IT tools to improve productivity. Any aspect that is unfamiliar will require support and advice from other people.

Entry requirements

At Level 2, students should have a good understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or have achieved Digital & IT Skills - Beginners (Level 1 IT)

How will I be assessed?

All assessments are undertaken at the HoW College IT Skills Centre and will involve using a computer and the skills you have learnt throughout each unit.

What can I do next

The City & Guilds iTQ is a recognised entry qualification for work in the general employment sector and is commonly a basic requirement for most employers. This covers a very wide range of jobs and career opportunities.

When you have completed the Microsoft Office Applications – Intermediate Users (Level 2) you can choose to progress onto the Microsoft Office Applications – Advanced Users (Level 3).
