Heart of Worcestershire College Lecturer, Karen Stone has been selected to exhibit her work in the Pastel Society’s prestigious annual exhibition at the Mall Gallery in London.

Karen, who teaches adult education at the College, fought off stiff competition from over 600 entries to see her piece ‘Eighteen’ appear alongside paintings by some of Britain’s leading pastel artists. Prior to her work at the College, Karen studied Fine Art at Birmingham School of Art, Birmingham City University and Life Drawing at The Slade School of Art, University College London.

Speaking about her recent success Karen said:

“I am absolutely delighted that my drawing has been selected to feature in the ‘Look Again’ exhibition. My work progressively researches and utilises the process of drawing, painting & printmaking to function as a language. As a writer would use vocabulary and a composer would use musical score I use elements and space to “speak” about the world around us. The intention is to encourage a dialogue, without being dictatorial; to instigate a journey, based on associated thought, which does not have to be logical or resolved.”
