Course overview

Do you dream of becoming a social worker? Would you like to make a real difference to the lives of individuals, families and communities? Would you like to prevent harm, neglect and abuse?

Our Access to Higher Education Diploma (Social Work) will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to achieve your dreams and succeed in higher education.

Taught at both our Redditch and Worcester campuses, Access to Higher Education Diploma, we offer a high level of tutorial and academic support to students. In addition students are also assisted with their applications and interviews to gain a place at university.

The Access to Higher Education courses provided at HoW College are regulated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and validated by Open College Network West Midlands.

Entry requirements

Ideally you will have either GCSE English or maths at grade 4 (C) or above but alternative qualifications are considered, including our own Access Foundation course. You will also be asked to attend an interview where you will have the opportunity to discuss your options and decide on the most suitable course.

How will I be assessed?

You will learn through a combination of tutor-led sessions, class discussions, presentations and group work. You will also have the opportunity to experience a formal examination setting to help prepare you for exams in higher education

What can I do next

With your Access to Higher Education Diploma (Social Work), you will be qualified to apply to study Social work at a higher education establishment in the UK such as our social work degree programme within the college or to apply for a social care related job that accepts Level 3 qualifications.
