Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19 we are unable to host our physical open events. But fear not our teams are ready and waiting to meet you and talk all things HoW College via our virtual open event. Simply select the session you would like to attend below and fill out the registration form to receive all of the necessary information.

Thursday 4th June 2020

IT Skills - 11am

Are you new to IT or looking to build your skills and gain the confidence necessary to work effectively with computers?

In today’s society almost every job involves the use of a computer and as the world of computing continues to rapidly grow there’s no better time to brush up on your IT skills. Our courses will give you the knowledge to work with current IT programs such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook.

Level 1 Prospects - 1pm

This study programme will help you develop your confidence and abilities in different skills to help you successfully progress onto an apprenticeship, further education course or employment.

All students will be fully supported inside and outside of the classroom with the addition of personal tutors, learning support assistants and personal learning coaches.

Level 1 SAS (Sport & Services) - 2pm

Are you interested in a career in either sports or services but want to find out and experience more before committing to a full time Level 2 course in the subject? Maybe you need extra support to help you achieve your goals or just lack confidence? If so, welcome to SAS.

This course balances a mixture of practical and theoretical sessions. You'll also participate in residential and field trips, as well as group projects.

Level 1 CARE - 3pm

Are you interested in the health and social sector? Do you thrive through helping and caring for others? Our entry level CARE (Adults, Young People and Children) is a complete course to help you progress into a field in the health and social care sector.

Level 1 IT - 4pm

Are you interested in the creative and dynamic world of IT and digital media? Then why not consider out Level 1 IT course where you will learn the essential computing skills needed for most jobs in today’s society.

This course explores many areas of technology with engaging and immersive sessions, where you can gain the relevant and specific skillset to start your journey into this fast-paced and exciting industry.

Applied Science - 11:30am

Are you a science enthusiast? Are you interested in criminology and forensic science? Then our Applied Science course could be the perfect option for you.

In our well-equipped laboratories, including our CSI area, you will study a variety of science based modules designed to give you the chance of progressing to a career that is dynamic, exciting and full of opportunities.

Hospitality - 1:30pm

Do you enjoy making new recipes? Do you work well in a fast-paced environment?

Take your passion for food and refine your cooking skills to achieve the professional level needed for this industry. You will learn to prep and cook complex dishes while managing working relationships within a kitchen environment.

Creative Arts - 11am

Whether you want to be in front or behind the camera, take to the stage or be the next Banksy, our creative arts courses could be the perfect choice for you.

Our courses cover a multitude of job roles and areas including Art, Music, Performing Arts and Media production for Film and TV. You will also gain hands-on experience in our art and music studios, commercial theatre, green screen and editing rooms.

Construction - 11am

Considering learning a skilled trade and gaining a career in the world of construction?

Our construction courses cover a multitude of job roles and areas including Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Plastering, Plumbing, Painting and Decorating. You will also gain hands-on experience in our workshops giving you the necessary skills to fulfill a successful future career.

Are you passionate about helping the vulnerable, young children, or those in need? If yes, then why not consider a health and social care or early years course.

Our courses have a mix of theory and practice to help you develop a thorough working knowledge of your subject, which you can then apply to a range of jobs in health care, social care and childcare.
