Proving That All You Need is a "Biddle" Bit of Determination
Heart of Worcestershire College's very own pedalling power-house, Cameron Biddle, is celebrating today after coming eleventh in the Junior Tour of Wales.
Cameron, who is currently studying Level 3 Coaching Development and Fitness at the College, has achieved excellent results in both regional and national cycling events and shows no signs of slowing down.
The Junior Tour of Wales is an intense three day cycling competition consisting of various time trials, circuit and road races.
Gearing up for his first day of competition Cameron struggled with the time trial discipline but then went on to excel in his first road races. Having put the wheels in motion, his success continued into day two, allowing him to enter the final day of competition in 27th place.
The last day of the event saw Cameron face his biggest challenge of the weekend, a gruelling 55.5 mile road race with a 3 mile mountain finish. With fierce competition from 98 other riders, Tumble Mountain, featured in the Tour of Britain is enough to break the most experienced rider. However, Cameron cranked up his pace and finished 8th giving him an overall finishing position of eleventh.
Speaking about the competition, Cameron said:
"Reaching the top of Tumble Mountain was a relief but when I found out I was the eighth rider I was on top of the world!!
I found the competition tough but it was an amazing experience riding with a top class international field of junior riders."
Speaking about his future in cycling, Cameron added:
"I hope to become a professional cyclist and compete abroad both on the road and cyclo cross. Who knows maybe one day I will represent Great Britain!"
Cameron will go on to ride in a series of 12 local West Midlands races and six National races throughout the country. We wish him the best of luck and all the success for the future.
