HoW College Student Success at EDF Energy

Heart of Worcestershire College’s (HoW College) Business Management student, Joanne Bull, proves that she is more than just a “bright spark” as she secures an exciting new job with global giant EDF Energy.

Joanne successfully completed the HND Business Management (Fast-Track) at HoW College and has since secured a coveted role at EDF Energy, the UK’s biggest supplier of electricity.

Joanne secured the position at EDF Energy through vital connections she met whilst studying at HoW College. The flexibility of the course has allowed her to successfully complete the qualification, part-time, in just two years. The HND itself is a work-related qualification that provides learners with the integral knowledge and understanding of business and management that relates to their own organisation as well as the wider economy; as part of their study students are given various networking opportunities to help advance their career and studies.

Speaking about her success, Joanne said:

“I believe that everything happens for a reason, the HND Business Management course has allowed me to meet people from different industries and professions. Through the connections I made on the course I secured an agency position with EDF Energy. Two years down the line I now have a permanent role within the company as a Supply Chain Specialist; I am thrilled! Hard work certainly pays off and if it wasn’t for the flexible nature of the course and the support of my tutor, Bridgette, I wouldn’t be where I am today!”

HoW College’s Coordinator of H.E. Business Management, Bridgette Bennett, added:

“I am so delighted for Joanne and extremely proud of her. She enrolled on the HND Business Management after achieving top grades on her BTEC National Diploma course. By studying on a fast-track, part-time basis, Joanne has been able to earn whilst she’s learned. Furthermore, what Joanne has learnt on the course, she has applied to her work at EDF Energy and this has undoubtedly accelerated her career progress. Joanne has an exceptionally bright future ahead of her and I wish her the very best of luck.”

EDF Energy is the UK’s largest producer of low-carbon electricity, the biggest supplier of electricity by volume in Great Britain and the largest supplier to British businesses.

HoW College prides itself on offering flexible undergraduate programmes, small HE group sizes, partnerships with employers and universities and financially friendly tuition fees.
