HoW College student raises the bar for young gymnasts

Kristina Suveizdyte, from Heart of Worcestershire College, is putting her professional gymnastics background into practice as she helps coach the next generation of athletes at Flics Gymnastics in Worcester.

Kristina, who is currently studying for her Diploma in Sport, Level 2, moved to England last year from Lithuania where she competed as a rhythmic gymnast from an early age.

Kristina competed at both a national and international level representing her country in numerous competitions. However, when Kristina broke her foot shortly after moving to England her competitive career was brought to end. Not one to give up, Kristina continued to pursue her passion in the form of teaching gymnastics at Flics Gymnastics.

Kristian now coaches gymnasts from 3 to 12 years old, six days a week at the club.

Speaking about her course and her coaching Kristina, said:

“I’ve always felt a passion to teach gymnastics from an early age and by studying sport at the College I’ve been able to develop my skills and knowledge in various areas which I can then apply to my job.

“Last year I completed the STEP course at the College which gave me the confidence to continue my studies on the level 2 sport course which I’m really enjoying and would thoroughly recommend to anyone with an interest in sport no matter which discipline.”
